Burpee Completion!

Today we successfully completed Spartan Race's 30 Burpees for 30 Days challenge.  We broke up our burpees so we could count by 10 throughout the day and then we carefully graphed each set of 10 done.  Through doing this challenge we learned lots.  We learned a lot about persevering.  Did you know that when you persevere with something, there is some type of reward at the end? When persevering in school, we get smarter and we earn good grades on our report cards.  By persevering with burpees, we gained stronger and healthier bodies.  As a special reward, we also got some Spartan Race shirts.  Thanks Mr. DeSena and Mr. Weinberg.  That was a fun surprise.

In addition to learning about persevering, we learned that we could do math with our burpees.  We learned to graph our burpees and we learned how to use the graph to answer questions about the data.  We were asked two questions:

1.  If you did 30 burpees for 30 days, how many burpees would you do in all?
2.  We have 11 students and 1 teacher in our classroom.  If we all did 30 burpees for 30 days, how many burpees would we do altogether?

Can you figure it out?

Check back next week to find out our answers and the strategies we used to solve the problems.
